White Tiger

The stunning White Tiger is extremely rare, occurring in 1 in 10,000 births and is a variant of the Bengal and Siberian tigers. The White Tiger has the typical black stripes of a tiger but has a bright white coat, caused by the lack of a pigment called pheomelanin.

While there are currently no white tigers in the wild, 200 still remain in captivity. The White Tiger is big and powerful, weighing up to 300kg and growing up to 3 metres in length. White Tigers are believed to have shorter life expectancies than normal Bengal Tigers due to their mutated genes but live for 10-20 years on average.
