Toy Testing - Child Safety Week
With Child Safety Week in full swing, we wanted to share with you what we do to ensure child and toy safety. Child safety is always our highest priority at Bigjigs Toys and our products consistently exceed EN71 testing standards.
Child Safety
Bigjigs Toys own-designed products are evaluated and risk assessed throughout each stage of development. It is important to ensure all potential hazards are considered at the design and sampling stages and well ahead of any confirmed production. Bigjigs Toys products go through rigorous testing in approved and accredited laboratories to ensure they are safe for children to play with.
Safety Guidance & Toy Safety Symbols
We continue to offer safety guidance as customers have repeatedly fed back that having safety information on the front panel of each box design is an important feature that they look for. Our boxes include safety flashes and toy safety symbols to give consumers quality assurance and peace of mind. Compliance warnings, cleaning instructions, and recycling advice can also be found on the base or back of the packaging.
Here's what our Design Team had to say:
"When developing toys the initial idea will always evolve and change when factoring in various constraints into the designs such as product size, age appropriateness, choice of materials and of course cost.
For us, the child safety rules and regulations are paramount; like ensuring little fingers can grip and manipulate the parts safely and that any moving parts are robust enough to handle rough play.
Child safety rules vary between age ranges and also change from country to country. These variations are important to consider into any new design. As toy designers, we have to factor all this and more into our designs as we develop ideas from the initial concept through to the final product.
Samples of every product we design are made using the correctly specified materials. The sample assists in the development process and confirms to us that what we have designed works as a toy and works in production. Playing with the samples assists with this process!
Should the design be confirmed to be added to the Bigjigs Toys range the external testing process commences to confirm the safety of a new product for our target market. It is important to Bigjigs Toys as a Company that we ensure our toys are fun, engaging, great value and above all, safe to play with."
The Bigjigs Toys range is BPA free, phthalate-free, lead-free and is produced from high quality, responsibly sourced materials in ethically compliant factories.
