Have a Pizza Party

Did someone say pizza? Little chefs can help out in the kitchen and make some pizzas with Mum. If you're up to the challenge, why not give this easy recipe a go? Once done, you could enjoy a cosy afternoon watching films and eating pizza!

Homemade Pizza Recipe

Ingredients

300g white bread flour (plus extra for dusting)

1 tsp instant yeast

1 tbsp olive oil

For the tomato sauce

1 tbsp olive oil

2 crushed garlic cloves

200ml passata

For the topping

8 mozzarella pearls (halved)

Small bunch of fresh basil leaves

Method

Step 1 - Tip the flour into a bowl and stir in the years and 1 tsp of salt. Add 200ml warm water (not too hot) alongside the oil. Stir together until the dough turns soft and wet.

Step 2 - Tip the dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 mins until smooth. Cover with a tea towel and leave to prove for an hour until the dough has doubled in size.

Step 3 - Whilst the dough is proving, you can make the tomato sauce. Put some oil in a small pan and lightly fry the garlic, then add the passata and simmer until thickened. Leave to cool.

Step 4 - Once the dough has risen, knead it in a bowl, then tip out onto a lightly floured surface then cut into two balls. Roll out each ball into a thin, large teardrop shape (around 25cm across).

Step 5 - Heat the oven to 240C/220C fan/gas 9 with a big baking sheet inside. Put the base onto the baking sheet. Smooth the sauce over the pizza bases with the back of a spoon and scatter the mozzarella, drizzle the olive oil and season. Put the pizzas into the oven and bake for 8-10 mins.

Psst, if you're not cut out for cooking, a takeaway pizza will suffice as a nice treat!

Plan a Picnic

If the weather's looking good, why not head outdoors for a picnic? Your little one can help choose what to take, assist with making the sandwiches and even bring their own little Picnic Basket. Picnics allow kids to absorb everything that's going on around them, get energised playing outdoor games, and enjoy good food with their favourite person (Mum, obviously).

Make a Gift

They say diamonds are a girls best friend. Whilst we can't help you make Mum a diamond necklace, we think our Heart Necklace kids jewellery set is just as a good. Crafty kids can ice the felt heart with the deco cream and then decorate it with colourful sprinkles and rainbow and cloud charms. Mum's going to love her new one-of-a-kind necklace!
